Employer, North Maine Maple Inc and 12 joint employers (the name and location of each member of the association can be obtained from the ME local careercenter) require 21 Maple Tree Tappers on a temp basis from 10/01/2018 06/15/2019 to work on 12 different worksites all located in rural areas in unorganized Maine townships in Somerset County, N Maine: T6R19, T6R18, T7R18, T8R18, T9R18, 21 Golden Road, 428 Sugar House Rd (Gorham Gore), 68 Heald Pond Rd (Moose River) and Main St, Jackman. No education reqd. 1-month exp reqd. No on-the-job training. 54 hrs p/w. Monday Saturday. Wage offered $15 p/h. Job duties related to harvesting maple sap. Workers will install, replace, maintain tubing systems, tap maple trees, evaluate health of sugar maples for potential sap production, monitor sap flow levels in tubing, pull taps at end of season and clean equipment. This is outdoor work performed in part during harsh winter temperatures and conditions and includes extensive walking and frequent stooping. Employer will use a single workweek as its standard for computing wages due. Workers will be paid bi-weekly. Housing offered as needed during sugaring season, at no cost to employee. Employer will charge $12.26 per day meal rate for meals provided. Employer will make all deductions from the worker‘s paycheck required by law (and no other deductions). Employer will provide or pay for the worker‘s cost of return transportation and daily subsistence from the place of employment to the place from which the worker, disregarding intervening employment, departed to work for the employer, if the worker completes the certified period of employment or is dismissed from employment for any reason by the employer before the end of the period, Employer will reimburse the H-2A worker in the first workweek for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the government, incurred by the H-2A worker (not including passport expenses or other charges primarily for the benefit of the worker). After the worker completes 50% of the work period, Employer will (in the next pay cycle) reimburse the H-2A worker for transportation and subsistence costs from the place from which the worker has come to work for the employer to the place of employment. Employer will provide to the worker, without charge or deposit charge, all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the duties assigned). The three-fourths guarantee applies, offering the worker employment for a total number of work hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays of each 12 -week period, in accordance with 20 CFR 655.122(i). If the worker completes 50% of the work contract period, employer will reimburse the worker for transportation and subsistence from the place from which the worker has come to work for the employer to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, employer will provide or pay for worker‘s reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of $12.26 per day during travel to a maximum of $51.00 per day with receipts. The employees will be provided transportation to the job site for each workday.
